Certificate of Recognition Program Recently issued our Certificate of Recognition in June of 2004 places Venture at the forefront of Industry Safety. As health and safety become more of a concern at the workplace, Venture strives to lead the way to a safe environment for their workers. Due to strict company policies, toolbox meetings, hazard assessments, and the site orientations which are held with each, and every employee that enters a our work force.

What is the C.O.R. Program?

The Alberta Construction Safety Association (ACSA) and Alberta Human Resources and Employment, Workplace Health and Safety are committed to helping employers and workers reduce losses caused by workplace injuries through the “Certificate of Recognition” (COR) program for the Alberta construction industry. The COR is also used as a pre-qualification requirement for Contractors tendering work for many buyers of construction.

The Certificate of Recognition program is available to all members and associate members of the ACSA from owner/operators to large corporations and is administered by the Alberta Construction Safety Association.

Certification is good for three-years from the date of the external (peer) audit. Maintaining your certification requires internal audits submitted annually and employment of a full-time employee who has completed the required training.

Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System WHMIS, as its more commonly known is the field of construction plays a very important role in our industry. Almost every material that we handle on a daily basis is hazardous. Each job site, and our shop contains a folder with the MSDS information for every product being used. Having these items in place ensures that in the event of an emergency our workers will have reference to the materials involved. WHMIS training for our employees is implemented upon hiring. Before any of our workers hit the job site, their WHMIS, Orientation, and Company Policies are reviewed.

Lift Training With new WH&S Regulations come new policies for using man lifts. Currently in the process of having our crews trained in the use of motorized man/scissor lifts ensures that these guidelines are met. Lift training is conducted by our main supplier of this type of equipment, Rental Service Corporation..

First Aid Training First Aid training for our employees is conducted by St John Ambulance. Once again, the construction industry poses possible threats of accidents on a daily basis. With heavy machinery, and other trades to be worked with, and around, we strive to be prepared for any situations that may occur. Along with Fire extinguishers, and first aid kits in all job boxes on sites, the appropriate number of First Aid ticketed employees are there to help in the event of a workplace accident.
